Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR)

Sparsha Trust is an active member in the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR) to conduct awareness programs about Child Rights, organize child-related events, participate in advocacy and bring policy in place by acting as an advisory member in grassroots level.

Since January 2016, Sparsha Trust is participating in an event called ‘Nanna Nade Shale Kade’ (‘My steps towards school’) at all levels. Sparsha is an advisory member at the state level and is responsible in Bangalore North District for giving awareness about the program, and for identifying the children out of school and bringing them to school.

(KSCPCR) is a statutory body set up under the Commissions for Protection of Child Rights Act 2005, an Act of Parliament. The Commission came into being on 03-Jul-09, the sixth one in the country. The Commission has the important role of examining and reviewing safeguards meant for protection of child rights, and recommending measures for their effective implementation. It functions as a civil court and hears petitions pertaining to violation of child rights. It also has the mandate of inquiring into the complaints relating to child's right to free and compulsory education (as provisioned by The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009).
