In order to address the issues arising out of the growing number of street based residents in mega cities, and Bangalore in particular, the Supreme Court indicated that State Government should create homes for street persons. With the objective to rehabilitate them, these homes provided them not just food and accommodation, but also counselling, health care and referrals to training and job placement, so that the street residents could either return to their homes or move to rented premises. Sparsha Trust is implementing the Sparsha Namma Mane, with the objective to rehabilitate street residents, including the aged. Under this project, it enrolls them to our shelter homes where they are provided with food, accommodation, counselling and job referrals.
Given the growing migratory trends of youth to cities, and lack of adequate employment opportunities, families from rural areas are finding it difficult to survive. Sparsha Trust is ensuring food security to families facing difficulties to have food thrice a day by distributing essential grocery kits every month, through the Annadata Sukhi Bhava project.
