Yuvika

A launchpad for women leaders

Each year, lakhs of young Indians aspire to join the civil and professional services through exams like the UPSC, KPSC, and CA. These careers promise dignity, stability, and the chance to serve society - but demand years of focused preparation and access to quality coaching.
For young women from Child Care Institutions (CCIs) and low-income families, this path is especially difficult. Once they turn 18, most lose institutional support and struggle to find safe, affordable spaces to study or live. In this vacuum, loneliness and lack of guidance often leave them vulnerable—some seek emotional connection online and face risks of exploitation, abuse, or coercion, leading to lasting psychological and social harm.
There is a pressing need for structured after-care that provides not just academic support, but also emotional safety, mentorship, and a nurturing community - helping these young women move from vulnerability to confidence, and from survival to self-reliance.
Project Yuvika is a first-of-its-kind residential and preparatory programme that supports young women from Child Care Institutions (CCIs) and low-income backgrounds to pursue careers in public and professional services. Located in Yelahanka, Bengaluru, the centre accommodates 50 female aspirants (aged 21- 27) and provides an environment that combines safe housing, mentoring, and access to quality coaching.
Over a three-year residential programme, participants receive structured support to prepare for the UPSC, KPSC, and CA examinations. Beyond academic coaching, the project focuses on personality development, soft-skills, and career readiness, enabling participants to balance education, part-time work, and exam preparation.
More than a hostel, Project Yuvika is a bridge from protection to empowerment. It offers young women the opportunity to continue their education within a nurturing community - transforming their aspirations into tangible pathways for leadership, stability, and service to society.
  • Residential Support: Safe, well-equipped accommodation in Yelahanka for up to 50 young women from CCIs and low-income families.
  • Academic Preparation: Intensive coaching for UPSC, KPSC, and CA examinations through expert trainers and partnered institutes.
  • Mentorship & Guidance: Regular one-on-one mentoring from serving and retired IAS, IPS, and KAS officers, along with professionals from the corporate and finance sectors.
  • Life Skills & Personality Development: Workshops on communication, leadership, emotional well-being, and self-sufficiency to strengthen confidence and resilience.
  • Career Pathways: Exposure visits, internships, and linkages with corporates and government departments for placements or further training.
  • Community & Family Engagement: Regular counselling and family sessions to build continued support systems and prevent social isolation.
  • Peer & Alumni Network: Creating a circle of mentorship where graduates guide new entrants, sustaining the spirit of empowerment and continuity.
  • Young women from Project Yuvika will emerge as confident, self-sufficient, and career-driven individuals capable of navigating personal and professional life with independence.
  • They will achieve financial stability, support their families, and help break intergenerational cycles of poverty.
  • Graduates will become active contributors to India’s growth, bringing diversity and representation to public and professional sectors.
  • Their participation in the workforce will foster innovation and social progress, enriching communities with new perspectives and leadership.
  • Collectively, they will help India harness its youth potential as a dynamic demographic dividend.
In the next five years, we aim to:
  • Operationalise the residential centre at Yelahanka and run successive three-year training batches for young women from Child Care Institutions and low-income families.
  • Support and mentor women over five years to prepare for UPSC, KPSC, CA, and other professional examinations.
  • Build a sustainable model where graduates contribute through mentoring, volunteering, and financial support for future batches.
  • Strengthen partnerships with coaching institutes, corporates, and government departments to expand training and placement opportunities.
  • Establish Project Yuvika as a replicable after-care model for empowering young women to transition from institutional care to independent, purpose-driven lives
