Moodana Sandhya Kirana

A Sanctuary in the Village

Among low-income communities, many elderly individuals struggle to care for themselves due to age-related illnesses, physical limitations, or cognitive challenges. Lacking family support, some face neglect or abandonment, leaving them vulnerable and without safety or companionship. There is an urgent need for permanent care homes that provide shelter, medical support, and emotional well-being for the aged and vulnerable - particularly in urban, rural, and peri-urban areas where access to such facilities remains limited.
Initiated in 2022, Moodana Sandhya Kirana is a proposed 24/7 permanent care home for destitute and vulnerable women as well as elderly couples who lack family or community support. The centre will provide residents with essential amenities including nutritious food, safe lodging, and round-the-clock medical care.
With a planned capacity of 200 residents, the facility will include dedicated spaces for children’s developmental activities, farming, cow rearing, and traditional folk arts and crafts. By creating an ecosystem rooted in traditional values and community living, Moodana Sandhya Kirana aims to offer its residents a holistic, dignified, and meaningful life in their later years.
The project will be located in Alanguru Village, Mulbagal Taluk (Kolar District), Karnataka.
