Across India’s rapidly expanding cities, thousands of children grow up on construction sites and in safai karmacharis communities - unsafe spaces never meant for childhood. Their parents, often daily-wage migrant labourers, leave home early to work long hours, with no access to reliable childcare. As a result, young children are left unsupervised in hazardous environments, without access to proper nutrition, early learning, or emotional care.
At Sparsha Trust, we believe that every child deserves a safe start in life. Through our Construction Sites to Classrooms initiative, we create nurturing, inclusive spaces where children of construction workers and safai karmacharis can learn, play, and grow while their parents work.
These centres provide structured early childhood education, health and nutrition support, and parental engagement - ensuring children aged 6 months to 6 years experience holistic development and are eventually integrated into mainstream schooling.
Our flagship project under this initiative, Kids Kingdom, has transformed the lives of hundreds of children who once spent their days amidst dust and danger, giving them the care, learning, and security every child deserves.
